Himachal Travel Tips & Practical Guide
Important travel notes from our local Himachal DMC specialist — read before you book.
- Spring & Summer (Mar–Jun): light jacket for evenings; layers essential at Rohtang & Solang
- Autumn (Oct–Nov): warm woolens; heavy jacket for Manali nights (drops to 2°C)
- Winter: heavy down jacket, snow boots & thermal innerwear — non-negotiable for Shimla & Kufri
- Always carry SPF 50+ sunscreen, sunglasses & comfortable trekking shoes year-round
- Rohtang Pass requires an NGT green permit — must be booked online at least 3–5 days in advance
- Only Manali union taxis are permitted on the Rohtang route — your tour vehicle cannot go beyond Solang
- Rohtang is closed from late-November to May due to snowfall; Atal Tunnel & Sissu is the alternative
- We arrange all permits & union taxi bookings on your behalf — inform us at time of enquiry
- Mountain roads on NH-3 & NH-5 can be narrow & winding — carry motion sickness medication
- Avoid travel during July–September; landslides are common on Shimla–Manali highway
- Always follow your driver's advice on road conditions — local knowledge is your safety net
- Real-time road alternates are arranged by our ground team in case of sudden closures
- Book paragliding, zipline & ATV only at authorised government-approved operators at Solang Valley
- Carry valid government photo ID — mandatory for Rohtang permit & all activity bookings
- Beas River rafting is seasonal (Oct–Jun) — always wear a life jacket & follow the guide
- Altitude at Rohtang is 3,978m — acclimatise in Manali for at least one night before ascending
